Customer Care and Localisation Specialist, German
Answer RoyalPay members in German and English, and make the app read as if it had been written in German from the start.
RoyalPay is a personal finance app: budgets that start on payday, bills and subscriptions in one place, goals, insights and Royal Advisor. Members write to us in their own language and expect an answer from a person who understands both the language and the money behind the question. German is the next language we add. You will translate the app with us and set the tone, the terms and the formal address our German-speaking members will see.
What you will do
- Answer members in German and English by email and in the app, within our published promise of two business days, and usually much sooner.
- Solve the question yourself where you can: imports that did not work, categories, budgets, plans, privacy and account questions. Pass product faults and security reports to the right person with everything they need.
- Translate and review app texts, help pages, emails and the website in German, keeping one glossary so the same thing always has the same name.
- Check every new screen in German before it goes live: length, plural forms, dates, amounts and the formal or informal address we agreed for the language.
- Tell us what members in Germany, Austria and Switzerland keep asking for. Your notes go straight into our product planning.
What you bring
- German at native level or C2, and English at C1 or better, both written with care.
- At least two years in customer support, translation or localisation, ideally for an app, a bank or a payments company.
- Calm, precise writing. You can explain a budget or a bank statement without jargon.
- Care with personal data. You will see members' financial information and treat it accordingly.
- A reliable computer and connection, and a quiet place to work.
Nice to have
- Experience with translation memory or localisation tools.
- Knowledge of how banks in Germany, Austria and Switzerland present statements and payments.
- A third language.
Hours
Between 20 and 40 hours a week, agreed with you in advance. Most of the work can be done when it suits you on working days between 8:00 and 18:00 Central European Time; we agree a short overlap with the team for questions and handovers.
Contract and pay
This is a remote role for people living in a country of the European Union or the European Economic Area. Royal Payment Solutions, LLC engages you as an independent contractor under a written service agreement, so you need to be registered as self-employed or run your own company in your country, and you take care of your own tax and social insurance. You keep the independence the law expects of a contractor: you organise your own working time within the agreed hours and use your own equipment. If the law of your country would treat this work as employment, tell us before you sign and we will discuss engaging you through an employer of record instead.
The range in this advert is an hourly fee in euros, before tax and excluding VAT. Where you start in the range depends on your experience and on the practical task described below. Invoices are paid monthly in arrears, within 14 days, by bank transfer.
We never ask about your current or past pay. Equal pay for equal work applies to everyone in the team.
How we hire
- Send a CV, or a link to your work, and a few lines about why this role. No cover letter template needed.
- A 30-minute video call with the person you would work with most.
- A short practical task that reflects the real work. If it takes more than an hour, we pay for your time at a rate agreed with you in advance.
- A final conversation with our Chief Executive Officer, then a written offer.
We answer every application, including a no, usually within ten working days.
