Careers
Frontend Engineer
Make RoyalPay fast, accessible and pleasant on every screen, from a small phone to a wide monitor, in light and dark.
Our pages are server-rendered and light: we use as little JavaScript as the job needs and care about every pixel. You will own the way RoyalPay looks and behaves in the browser, together with our designer and backend engineers. You report to our Chief Technology Officer.
What you will do
- Build and refine screens and components: charts, calendars, forms, navigation and the first-run tour.
- Keep the interface accessible: keyboard use, focus, contrast, screen readers and reduced motion, measured against WCAG 2.2.
- Make every screen work at phone, tablet and desktop widths and in both looks, without layout shifts.
- Keep pages fast: small files, no unnecessary libraries, sensible caching.
- Check every change in three languages, because Czech and Polish words are longer than English ones.
What you bring
- At least four years of professional frontend work with semantic HTML, modern CSS and plain JavaScript.
- Experience with SVG and data visualisation.
- Practical knowledge of accessibility and responsive design.
- English at C1 or better.
Nice to have
- Experience building a design system.
- Polish, Czech or another of our languages.
Contract and pay
This is a remote role for people living in a country of the European Union or the European Economic Area. Royal Payment Solutions, LLC engages you as an independent contractor under a written service agreement, so you need to be registered as self-employed or run your own company in your country, and you take care of your own tax and social insurance. You keep the independence the law expects of a contractor: you organise your own working time within the agreed hours and use your own equipment. If the law of your country would treat this work as employment, tell us before you sign and we will discuss engaging you through an employer of record instead.
The range in this advert is an annual fee in euros for a full-time engagement of about 40 hours a week, before tax and excluding VAT, invoiced monthly in equal parts and paid within 14 days by bank transfer. Where you start in the range depends on your experience and on the interviews.
We never ask about your current or past pay. Equal pay for equal work applies to everyone in the team.
How we hire
- Send a CV, or a link to your work, and a few lines about why this role. No cover letter template needed.
- A 30-minute video call with the person you would work with most.
- A short practical task that reflects the real work. If it takes more than an hour, we pay for your time at a rate agreed with you in advance.
- A final conversation with our Chief Executive Officer, then a written offer.
We answer every application, including a no, usually within ten working days.
